I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again—Susie Tate is my absolute favourite author. I’m a massive fan of everything she writes, but Gold Digger completely stole my heart (again). I’ve already read it twice, and honestly, I could read it all over again tomorrow and still feel every emotion like it’s the first time.

What I love most about Susie’s writing is how deeply I connect with her characters. Every joy, every heartbreak, every vulnerable moment—I feel it all. It’s like the characters live and breathe right off the page. This book made me laugh, tear up, and clutch my chest more than once (in the best way).

I seriously cant put into words how much I bloody love her books! I hope she never stops writing because I seriously don't know what I would do with myself!

Synopsis:

Oliver Harding, the Duke of Buckingham, has a secret crush on his cleaner, Lottie. But when she betrays his trust, his feelings turn to cold hatred. Blinded by his power and privilege, Oliver fails to see the struggles Lottie faces as she fights to survive and protect her little sister, who has selective mutism—until it’s nearly too late.

Now, determined to make things right, Oliver is on a mission to win her back and prove that love can overcome even the deepest wounds.

What really makes Gold Digger shine is Susie Tate’s incredible talent for creating characters who feel so real and raw.

Lottie is such a fierce, complex heroine. She’s bold, protective, and fiercely devoted to her little sister, who has selective mutism. Watching Lottie navigate her struggles—both external and internal—brought so much emotional depth to the story. You can’t help but root for her every step of the way.

Then there’s Oliver Harding, the Duke of Buckingham. At first, he comes across as cold, privileged, and unapproachable. But as the story unfolds, you see the layers beneath that hard exterior—a man battling his own pride, hurt, and misconceptions. His journey from hatred to vulnerability and love is so compelling.

Their dynamic is electric—full of tension, misunderstandings, and moments of genuine connection. The way Oliver’s power and privilege blind him to Lottie’s struggles adds a powerful layer of conflict and growth.

Both characters carry their own wounds, and seeing them slowly break down their walls to understand and support each other was honestly so moving.

Susie Tate’s ability to write characters with flaws, strength, and real emotional complexity is one of the reasons I keep coming back to her books again and again.
